New Tech
Calumet New Tech High partenered with the New Tech Network to open in August 2010 to approximately 170 ninth and 150 tenth grade students with eleventh and twelfth grade students integrating into this revolutionary learning model the following year. In 2012-13, the New Tech Model expanded to Lake Ridge New Tech Middle School, and then to the elementary schools in 2015-16. Since 2015-16, Lake Ridge New Tech Schools has implmented the model district-wide.
Through the New Tech Model, students are provided unique opportunities to gain the knowledge and skills through the use of modern technology, community partnerships, problem solving, interdisciplinary instruction, and global perspectives in a student-centered, collaborative, project-based community. New Tech students work in project based learning environments where classroom teachers act as facilitators and students are engaged through academic exploration and inquiry, and ultimately develop skills such as resiliiency, the ability to adapt to an ever-changing world, and interpersonal connections to succeed with all types of stakeholders.
